2010 - the year so far

Let’s Laugh celebrates 2010 – the year so far.

2009 was an amazing year for Let’s Laugh and 2010 is proving even busier.

Our heart felt thanks go out to you, our wonderful clients and all who are continuing to enjoy our programs and workshops.  The only marketing we employ is our website and the recommendations and referrals we receive from clients and participants.  We thank you for letting us know how much you enjoyed our programs through your feedback and for sharing your experiences with those who you are in contact with, what we call feed forward.

Our Chief Happiness Officer, Bron, continues to update her training skills, working with clinical professionals in the development of Let's Laugh programs.  She is most grateful to Madan and Mahuri Kataria, the developers of the Laughter Yoga International Movement, and Steve Wilson, founder of the World Laughter Tour for their on-going support, guidance and mentorship in ensuring Let's Laugh clients benefit from the most up to date research on the benefits of laughter as a health and wellbeing strategy.  She is also continuing with the completion of her degree is psychology, albeit through part time, off-campus study.

In April 2010, Bron again headed off to America, now an annual event, to attend the annual conference of the Association of Applied and Therapeutic Humor (www.aath.org), where she again had the pleasure of discussing the latest research into the benefits of laughter and humour with renowned laugher researchers including Dr Lee Birk, Dr. Paul McGhee, Dr. Earl R. Henslin and Ed Dunkleblau.  Thank you to allows Bron to attend this brilliant and not to missed conference.  

The face book page 'Global Laughter Network', of which Bron is chief administrator, is proving popular with laughter lovers from around the globe.  Bron is also a part of the Australian Skype Laughter team.  On July 2, 2010 Let's Laugh formed a partnership with the not for profit group Smile Project (a face book based global social movement) whose mission is to change the face of the planet by encouraging as many people as possible to share their smile with others. 

So far 2010 has seen Bron present Laughter, Stress, Emotional Resilience, Happiness Management, Team Building and Meditation workshops with over 135 different organisation.  These included:

107 laughter/humour presentations and workshops in 3 Australian states.

11 meditation on demand and meditation for busy minds workshops, again in 3 Australian states. 

3 team building through play days.

29 presentations of our free weekly community laughter club plus 7 presentations of the Federation Square Laughter club in Melbourne on behalf of Laughter Clubs Vic. inc.

and 31 interstate community clients, whose budgets could not accommodate bringing Let’s Laugh to them, were happily referred onto laughter presenters closer to their location.

In the first 8 months of 2010 her unique laughter presentations have been shared with over 2,500 participants.

140 participants have discover the simple way to effective meditation

and 21 new clients and almost 1400 new participants have been welcomed into the Let’s Laugh family.

Our chief happiness officer Bron was invited to share her indepth knowledge of the benefits of laughter on radio programs including: 774 ABC, two ABC regional radio stations and Sea FM in Tasmania and was even invited to appear on a national game show (still to go to air).

Our most popular programs continue to be:

Corporate health, wellbeing, stress and resilience management through humour

and community ‘benefits of, and health through laughter’ sessions.

Our team building through play workshops are enjoying growing popularity as is our new Health and Wellbeing Survivor program.

Thanks to increased media exposure, we are seeing an increase in those requesting simple fun-filled 45 – 90 minute laughter sessions. 

Our clients included:

Kindergarten children, their teachers and families

Primary, secondary, tertiary and adult community education students and staff

Age care clients and staff and their families

Business and corporate staff of all levels in a wide range of fields and a wide range of organizations

Sales and hospitality staff

Carers and clients in mental health, dependency (drug/alcohol/gambling), palliative care, cancer support, homeless and veterans organizations

Health care workers including occupational, speech and physio therapists, nurses in a wide range of fields, doctors and support staff

The general community

and the inmates and staff in two of our maximum security prisons

Venues were as diverse as:

meeting and conference rooms

conference and concert halls (with groups of up to 1,200 plus)

parks

beaches

artist colonies

church halls and a church (with the alter as a backdrop)

public and private transport including buses, trains, a tram and a ferry

hospitals and rehabilitation centres

age care facilities and nursing homes

community, neighbourhood and U3A centres

Bron also presented our unique programs at a number of community events including:

The Sustainable Living Festival

The Mind Body and Spirit Festival

So far in 2010 Bron has also trained 20 new community laughter leaders in Melbourne and NSW, plus another17 in conjunction with Laughter Clubs Victoria inc.

2010 is also seeing an increase in the number of organisations wanting workshops at short notice.  While we already have bookings into March 2011, we will be working with some of our newer clients no more than 2 weeks of our first communication.
